2025

The Prince Henry Society is proud to give back to the Greater New Bedford community through volunteering, philanthropic support, and working together with other civic organizations.

A snapshot of what we accomplished in 2025, by the numbers:

  • Annual Brotherhood Awards and Distinguished Awards that recognized those who give back to our community. In 2025, the Prince Henry Society of New Bedford selected Carlos Matias as Brotherhood Award recipient for his work supporting hurricane relief efforts. Plymouth County Deputy Scott Robbins and Officer Mason Almeida received the Distinguished Award for their life-saving actions at a house fire.

  • 800 families served by our annual Christmas Basket food drive, donating groceries to those in need during the holiday season, and organized and staffed by volunteers from our organization with generous sponsorship from members of the community.

  • $77,000 in scholarships to 73 students in 2025. One of our organization's signature philanthropic commitments, and thanks to the support of members and sponsors who donate in memory of loved ones. Since 1980, the Prince Henry Society of New Bedford has supported 1,382 students with $1,390,700 in scholarships for post-secondary education.

  • In July we held our Golf Tournament.

  • A free meal and event at Feed Our Vets in June 2025, serving those who served with gratitude, featuring a recognition lunch at the Dartmouth VFW.

  • At our annual installation banquet we honored Christopher Medeiros as our Person of the Year, 2025.

  • Winter clothing collection initiative to provide essential warmth to those across the area in need, thanks to the donors and volunteers to this drive.
