The presentation of this award and celebration in his honor is taking place on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at The Century House. Each year the Scholarship Committee of the Prince Henry Society distributes scholarship applications to all of the local high schools in the greater New Bedford area: New Bedford, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Westport, Old Rochester Regional, Apponequet Regional, Wareham, Bishop Stang and Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical High School.

One of the society’s most important activities is to support our local community through various charitable initiatives. Since the society’s inception we have donated or contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to the community we serve.

The society’s third objective is the preservation of our heritage/culture. The children of immigrants benefit measurably from exposure to their Portuguese heritage. We accomplish this objective via numerous methods.
